Go First

Go First, founded as GoAir in 2005, is an Indian ultra-low-cost airline based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is owned by the Indian business conglomerate Wadia Group. The airline is headquartered in Mumbai, India. Mr. KaushikKhona is the CEO of Go First, having replaced Mr. JehangirWadia, who served as the managing director of the airline since its inception until his resignation in 2021.

In October 2017, it was the fifth largest airline in India with an 8.4% passenger market share. Go First was rated the "Best Domestic Airline for Excellence in Quality and Efficient Service" by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association in 2008. The airline was named the "Best Performing Airline" in Asia and Africa of all Airbus A320 operators by Airbus in 2011 based on fleet utilization and other performance metrics.

The purpose of rebranding the 15-year-old airline is to fully embrace the ultra-low-cost airline model and gain an advantage over its peers. The carrier is aiming at young travelers around India and the world. To communicate this change, GoFirst is also revamping the brand identity.

Go First is the aviation foray of India’s Wadia Group, which is a part of one of the oldest conglomerates in India with a presence in diversified industries. GoFirst is a low-cost carrier (LCC) that aims to make air travel affordable and accessible to the masses. Go First was incorporated on April 29, 2004, and commenced flight operations in November 2005 with its inaugural flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. It has flown 83.8 million passengers since fiscal 2010, and as of December 31, 2020.  

The airline launched its first international flights from Delhi to Phuket on October 11, 2018, followed by Mumbai to Phuket on October 12, and Mumbai and Delhi to Malé on October 14 and 17, respectively.

In March 2020, GoFirst operates to a network of 39 destinations: 29 domestic and 10 international. Thailand (Bangkok and Phuket), Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, Kuwait City, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Colombo, and Malé have international flights. As of now, Go First operates international flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kannur, and Kolkata. The airline has a total of 325 daily flights and more than 2200 weekly flights. The airline maintains bases at Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kannur, and Mumbai airports.

Indian ultra-low-cost carrier Go First has announced a slate of new routes. The growing network will see it offer flights to Amritsar, Surat, Dehradun, and Aizawl for the first time. This brings the carrier's total domestic destinations up to 31 flights in total. More destinations will be added in the near future, andthe winter capital of the mountain state of Uttarakhand, Dehradun, will see new connectivity too. Go First will start direct flights to Delhi (twice daily) and Mumbai on a dailybasis to serve demand in metro cities and offer further connections to other destinations.

Baggage

Hand Luggage

As hand baggage, customers can bring one bag weighing up to 7 kg. Additional baggage will be subject to checked baggage. 

Checked Baggage

On domestic flights, the standard check-in baggage allowance will be one piece or bag weighing up to 15 kg.Eligible customers who have purchased student, defense, or marine fare can carry up to two pieces/bags. The dimensions of the checked-in baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in overall dimensions (L+W+H).

On domestic flights, a pre-purchase charge of Rs. 900 and an airport charge of Rs. 1000 will be applicable for each extra bag / additional piece carried by the passenger over and above the one allowed piece or bag. Excess baggage, as applicable, will be charged over and above the extra bag.

The pre-purchase of excess baggage should be 2 hours prior to domestic and international flight departure. The pre-purchased excess baggage is intended for booked passengers only and is non-transferable. On international flights, a pre-purchase charge of Rs. 1500 and an airport charge of Rs. 2000 will be applicable for each extra bag or additional piece carried by the passenger over and above the one checked bag.

Excess Baggage

Internationally connected customers traveling on Go First's domestic flights can purchase excess baggage at special rates. The rate is applicable for customers arriving from or connecting to any Go First international flight within 24 hours. Proof of international travel must be shown at the airport check-in counter.

Excess baggage needs to be purchased for each sector separately. In cases of "no show" or "gate no show," the excess baggage fee is non-refundable. Any modification or cancellation to the pre-purchased excess baggage is not allowed post booking.

The airline offers the GoSME program for the benefit of small and medium enterprises. Benefits of GoSME include zero convenience fees, complimentary meals on board, zero cancellation or rescheduling charges, and complimentary seat selection.

GoMore Program

GoMore Upsell is also available on the airline's website, mobile app, contact center, and airport counter.The fee is Rs 3000 per passenger per sector for domestic flights and Rs 6000 per passenger per sector for international flights.

Go First Cancelation and Refund Policy

Passengers cannot cancel this service on a standalone basis, rather, this service will be refunded for passengers who cancel the booking partially or fully. In case of a date change, this service will be transferred to the new booking. No refund will be provided in case of no-shows or passengers who do not avail of this service in spite of purchasing it. A full refund is available in the case of flight cancellations by Go First airline.
